Itty Bitty Baby Squirrel Adopts A Grandpa, And Although Grandma Doesn't Want It Home, Granddad Is Clearly Too Smitten To Let Him Go

As cat and dog owners, we can tell you that… once you've been adopted, you've been adopted. And there's nothing you can do about it. You may think all your life that when you're ready, you will go adopt a cat or adopt a dog, as you have always dreamt of doing, but that's rarely how it works out in our experience. It seems to us that, more often than not, the animals are the ones who choose us. 

And it's not always a "simple" animal like a cat or a dog. Sometimes, you think you've been adopted by a dog when you've actually been adopted by a wolf. And sometimes, you get adopted by a cute bumblebee. Or a baby squirrel. And no matter who you are or how old you may be, when it happens… it happens, and you are left with no choice but to adopt whichever animal chose you and be the happiest human ever for as long as you have it. That's just how it works.

    All the stuff that we see on the internet… sometimes, we feel the urge to leave, and then we see something like this, and we're suddenly reminded of exactly why we stick around. We wish we could see more wholesomeness like this each and every time that we log onto the interwebs. It's the best thing about being here.

    Seriously, if you think this picture of this itty bitty baby squirrel is adorable - which it clearly is - then you are not ready for the rest of them. We know that we weren't. And now, we understand exactly why this granddad is so in love with it, because we are too.

    Hello, this squirrel, that we have named Rogécureuil (it is a joke between roger and écureuil, wich is squirrel in french). We dont know how old he is, but he crave human attention and climb our legs. We thinks it is a little boy? Are we right?

    ophydian210 6 days ago This is a baby baby. I would guess 8 weeks. This is probably the youngest they can be on their own but honestly they should be given more time to develop on formula. OP if I were in your situation I'd have Gpa reach out to a rehabber in the area so this little guy has the best chance possible.

    ophydian210 6 days ago Because babies this young don't normally come up to humans unless they are in need of help. If you have babies coming to you then they've got to be 10-12 weeks.

    Wondering1928. 6 days ago I'd start by making him a safe place to sleep and hang out high up enough so predators can't catch him. I'd call a rehabititator or rescue and they can give you better advice. I'm sure he needs special food.
